There's an ancient Roman story about a patrician who opposed handouts of wheat/money/whatever it was I forget for the city's poor. On the day they were distributing handouts, another patrician found him in line and asked why he was in line for handouts if he opposed them. The patrician replied, "I paid for this - I might as well get my fair share".
I oppose the checks and think the lockdowns should be over so people can go back to earning money, but if we're already stealing my money and handing some of it back out, hell yes am I going to welcome the pennies on the dollar I get back from the government.
