Also the Marat/Robespierre side of the French Revolution which called for universal brotherhood and the worship of Reason as a Goddess, with society led by the wise. A friendly brotherly hand to guide society, and those who were so recalcitrant not to see the wisdom of the leadership, to be knocked over the head or guillotined.

Actually goes back to Plato and the Republic, where he calls for rule by a small group separately a specially educated, and who are permitted to lie.
