I see no clipping. The biggest boom mic, covered with a dead cat cover, stays to his right (our left) of his torso and slips behind his right hand as he gets close to the reporters. The smaller boom mic passes between one if his hands and his torso.

Watch it again. It happens not just with the green mic, but also the light grey one. Moments later, at the same distance, his hands are behind the grey one. There's never any indication of physical collision. At that close a distance he would have knocked the mics.

Boom mics can be big af. Given that video does not convey depth well, I understand your confusion.
