Look up the actual vote for the civil rights act of 1964, every single state that voted complete NO on the civil rights act every one of them was Democrat, and if you look up the republicans that voted no every one of them belongled to a Democrat majority state. Not a single Republican state voted No. south carolina, north carolina, virginia, Mississippi, Tennessee, Georgia, Arkansas, Louisiana, all of these states voted no, and every one of them was run by Democrats. Strom Thurmond one of the most notable of the knowm racist republicans, people forget most of stroms political career he was a Democrat.
