Had Hitler stopped short of starting WWII and doing the concentration camps, he would be hailed as a national hero, no doubt.

But here lies the problem: he not only started WWII but also did the concentration camps. There may be levels of "lesser evil" but evil is evil and is not acceptable.

Not only that, Hitler paved the way for many of the problems we see today. Remember the picture of Churchill, FDR and Stalin sitting together plotting on how to best rule the world?
