Daughter starts university in the Fall. She wants to get a degree in Mathematics, a degree in Education, and to teach High School Math. Looked up the requirements for the math degree...impressive. Looked up the requirements for the Education degree...HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Jumping Jesus on a pogo stick! A retarded monkey could get an Education degree.

All of the education majors I went to college with were done with their exams while I hadn’t even hit the peak with mine. I think there are people who want to be teachers, but some of them just major in education because they failed out of harder majors.

Yeah, in Engineering I would take an exam and then proceed to study for the next one. Meanwhile, the Education majors were at the bar waiting for me. From my limited exposure to their field, they substituted quality work with quantity of work. Nothing too difficult but lots of busy work.

What kind of engineer ? All the men in my family are engineers or M.D.s I always loved building things. It's one of the best feelings in the world. When you're little and finish that lego bridge, and now I can see infrastructure helped design and build around the area I grew up. Like schools, the metrolink, libraries, police stations, you name it.

I've also designed and even installed sewer lines at parks. So little kids can take shits. (Sorry that part in pineapple express always made me laugh)

How much you wanna bet the mathematics degree has a humanities/ethics requirement where they're gonna try to brainwash her there too.

Got that covered. She has taken enough AP courses in High School to not have to take almost all of the "General Education" requirements. Tested out of all of the English, History, Economics, Psychology, Stats, and the first semester of Calc.

Just make sure you stay close. Keep in touch. Make her know how proud of her you are (and imply that she has the same capability to do the opposite and completely disappoint you). Kids don't like to disappoint their parents it feels awful.

Unless that parent spent their time being a disappointment for the child which I have seen happen. My wife is like this with her father. He's a pathetic human being. My wife is a million times stronger and better emotionally and he's a coward.

I guess I'm trying to say you have more effect on her than the school will believe it or not. I still think the reason my sister is a democrat because all my parents did was coddle her and their entire social life revolved around her being on a traveling soccer club that cost us so much money during a time we didn't make any money and ate hamburger helper. every night. She feels so entitled and is your classic example of a college (over) educated neoliberal. I believe if my dad wasn't so lazy and was more involved in raising us instead of feeling like as long as he paid the bills he could just watch tv and not really be involved. And I get it too he worked alot and was tired. But still. That's no excuse.

She's living at home and commuting. She's more conservative , if that's possible, than I am.

Math is a great degree but some of those classes can be really tough based solely on the quality of the professor

Just read the book. Disregard the professor and assume he's nothing more than a test proctor. Practice. Practice. Practice.

Make sure she takes Intro to Logic, or it may be called Critical Thinking. Its a Philosophy class. Everyone needs that class.

We've had that discussion.

Yeah, they were failing Intro to Linguistics and it was an easy class. They thought it would be easier than their classes.
