This is a shotgun mic with a windshield, on a handheld boom. It's the perfect microphone choice for a situation with a helicopter nearby, because the shotgun picks up noise very directionally (point towards the speaker, hear less of the helicopter), and a 6" or 8" windshield will cut out even more of the surrounding noise.
So... Yeah, it's that big. The windshield is fuzzy but the video compression barely shows that, and they look more shaky because the video is sped up (Biden can't move that fast, I promise).
I know a fucking boom mic with a wind sock - I was a boom mic sound man working on tv series - on location shoots around the world - for two years. A also worked in video post for almost 30 years. This is fake and sloppy AF... like something you'd see of a weatherman on a local cable station. Get some glasses.
