We just released an update which changes how we handle SSO, a full description of the changes will be posted in c/changelogs once the update is stable.
Please use this thread to notify of any issues with things like being logged out, being redirected to the old domain, etc. If you have a bug report, please also include what browser (ex. "Chrome") and version (ex. "89.0.4389.90") you're using, and whether you're using any privacy blocking extensions.
If you do get "logged out", it may not be as it appears. There's two options: for some browsers, you can wait a few seconds and you'll be automatically logged back in. If you aren't, then you can click the sign in button, and you may be immediately logged back in without having to re-enter any details. This would be the intended behavior for some privacy focused browsers and extensions, as well as some old browsers.
Well when Im ''logged out'' sometimes when I press sign in it just says im allready signed and nothing happens... and never did it sign in without me filling details

I'm on mobile, iOS using Safari, and when I try to login, I just get directed to the actual file called "login" or "session" that it just offers to download that physical file to my device. You basically get stuck on that page and can't login. I can login on desktop fine. Mobile is broken.

When I get logged out in Safari, I just switch to my virtual machine and run this site in Windows.
But a simple restart and cookie deletion has solved this issue as well.
you do this on mobile? doesn't sound like it but wondering if you can do that on mobile. restart/cookie clear doesn't fix it. I got the impression doing a quick online search that the code is serving up the "session" file improperly on some versions of iOS or Safari, like it's supposed to be redirecting that file and instead it's pushing it to be downloaded. But that's just a hunch.

What shocked me is they retroactively added contact tracing to iOS 12 in subsequent updates. My parents both have iPhone 6, which is stuck on iOS 12, but they got contact tracing updates. iOS 12 on devices that support iOS 14 never got contact tracing updates because you are expected to be running iOS 14 instead.
Apple has never added feature updates to a deprecated OS before that I can recall.

Sometimes when i try to upload a photo the bar moves and uploads and then a big clear x appears over the photo indicating that it failed. And it just doesn't work no matter how many times I try and I have to use imgur
I have that same thing happen a lot too. For me, it seems like any file that is close to or larger than 1 MB will not upload, but anything under 900 KB or so will upload fine (although sometimes even those will take 3, 4, or 5 attempts before it works correctly). Also the file's dimensions in pixels doesn't seem to affect it at all for me, as I have had success with dimensions over 4,000 as long as the file size is below 900 KB.
If it absolutely refuses, I'll use maga.host, but I prefer to put images directly on patriots.win so that people can use the preview function in the list of threads.
Don't know why it's a problem, since supposedly we should be able to upload files up to 12 MB!

Search has now been re-enabled. Note that it may be disabled again if this SSO update is reverted (which may occur if the update completely breaks the site for a browser with a significant market share)

As soon as I clicked login, it logged me in without putting in credentials.
That's expected for Brave (since it blocks third party cookies) - as long as you don't have to click login again for every new session.

No, users shouldn't have been fully logged out.
If they were fully logged out, they should try multiple incorrect passwords before entering the correct one, to ensure that we do still know the correct password. However be aware that trying too many passwords may temporarily lock you out silently.
I clicked login and it logged me in without prompting for a password. I logged out ma ually, used a fake password and was denied. Used the real one and am in.

I had to re-enter credentials a couple hours ago (Apple safari iPhone) , and it logged me out again when revisiting but didn’t require credentials this time around.

I clicked a link which opens in a new tab on my browser. The new tab had me signed out but all I had to do was click sign in button and I was back in.

Got logged out of Safari 12.1.2 and clicking the "Sign in" loads authentication which then immediately reloads the main page, but without logging in. Running uBlock Origin 1.16.0.
Works fine on Brave.
Are you able to test whether Safari 12.1.2 works correctly without uBlock Origin?
Same behavior with uBlock disabled, and with it unchecked in the Extensions window.
I can't edit my comments shortly after posting them because the changes won't save. I can't figure out the cause of this issue but it's really annoying when trying to fix typos.
Additionally, the page times out randomly, eliminating any comments or up/down-votes. This isn't a huge problem, imo, but it can be a nuisance.
Oh, and please fix whatever randomly stops images from being uploaded 🙏.

I think there's quite a few issues from scaling and caching as well as the anti-DDOS.
It seems like it expires pretty quickly. After some time idle it takes a long time to load the first page. It could be linked to restoring an account cache or the DDOS protection verifying but I can only speculate. Also the CRSF especially with multiple tags might have issues.
Because of caching sometimes comments can take some time to appear and editing also doesn't always apply I think (some eventual consistency perhaps and broken out of sync clocks or TZ).
The logged out but not logged out thing for me most reliably disappears when strangely I delete all the cookies from the Application tab in dev tools.
The delay at the start of a session (or every 60 minutes after a session began) is a flaw with our old SSO process, which this update addresses. The "logged out but not logged out" issue should be resolved with this update, too.

Not sure if a big deal, but on galaxy9 and chrome mobile, i can't zoom in on main page, but when i go to the story page, i can zoom.

Since yesterday evening, have to sign in frequently on brave mobile and desktop. As you described, hitting sign in does the trick without entering password.
What version of Brave are you using? Are you using any additional privacy extensions? You should only have to hit sign in once.
1.21.76 on mobile. Was desktop too. When I checked it said I had an update to 1.21.77 and now its keeping me logged in. I'll be checking for a mobile update next.
Maybe unrelated, but there is an issue with writing comments not being sent if one was idle too long (the time span appears to vary even). It appears (re)loading another .win site will make it work again even on the tabs that are already open.
I notice this often when I write larger comments. It's somewhat annoying. I use Edge, probably the newest version. But this happens on Mozilla Firefox as well.

I was automatically logged out two days ago. Tried the "fake password" trick when signing in and obviously it didn't work. However, there were no updates from the mods (that I could find) so I've been sceptical ever since.

I can log in on my ancient PC using windows 7 but I can't tell if my comment even posted because...BillGates.
So now I an still using my ancient PC and ancient Firefox and can log in but I don't know if this comment will post.

I'm having the same issue and I reported it in this thread and sent the mods a message about it.
So far ive confirmed with another user that we're on iOS, using safari, and on v. 12.x.
I did find a hacky workaround to getting in on your phone. The below is assuming you're also hitting where it's sending you to this "session" file page that prompts you to download the 0kb cookie (where you get stuck). Sometimes I've hit where it says "login" instead of session, but it's usually "session".
If you have your password saved (and it may work similarly if you can just manage to click into the username or password text fields), but if you have your password saved so that your iPhone pops up the little "use saved password?" dialogue box, if you keep going back using the browser back buttons when you get to that "session" page, it will keep redirecting you to that "session" page, but occasionally it's slow to load, not super slow but slow enough that you can press your little "use saved password?" box, and then it doesn't redirect you and you can actually login again.
It took me about 25 tries tbh.
Also it doesn't authenticate you automatically to other .win communities so you'd have to do it again against another .win.
And if you log out or delete cookies in mobile, you will have to go thru this again.
Thank you but I don't have an iphone. I use a mini ipad. It does take me to that blue file icon on the white page with the word session underneath, but I am low tech (I have two flip phones and two minis but no smart phone).
I use the mini all the time. Using this ancient PC is a hassle. I hope they fix things up because I never had a problem before today.

I was having an issue a day or two ago with Firefox (86.0.1) saying I was logged out, but trying to sign back it said I was still logged in and the "refresh session" wasn't functioning - fixed by clearing my cache.
Getting log out issues sometimes. I just click on link for login and then the page refreshes with me logged in. Not really a problem just a heads up.

I haven't been able to sign in ALL DAY using my apple mini ipads. I have two. One is verizon and one is ATT. I keep getting the same sign in problem (right now I am using my ancient PC to post this message using firefox but I really need to be able to use my minis).
The problem with using the mini ipad is that when I hit the sign in button on the top of PW, it takes me to a blank white page with the apple blue FILE icon. Underneath it says SESSION. Under that is says Data - Zero KB. Underneath that is says OPEN in" HP ePrint". and under that is says MORE...
the URL on top of the page says https://authentication.win/session?passive=true&site=TheDonald (I am typing on my PC and reading the message on my mini ipad as I tried to sign in)
It's all a dead end. And this only started happening today. This morning. Both mini ipads. Can't sign in. Have to keep creating new accounts. It's not me because I have the exact same problem on both of my mini ipads which are separate and independant of each other.

Using Chrome, and the site behaved exactly as you described in the last paragraph. Said I needed to log in, I clicked on the "Sign in" and was immediately logged in without having to enter details.
Shows I have no saved posts on PC(Opera 68). They're still on mobile(DDG on android) and when I save on PC they show up on mobile, just not on PC.
Have an update to do and reboot, or just quit being a pussy and change to Brave like everyone else.
I couldnt log in to any win site earlier. Tried maybe 20 times but clicking on either sign in button did nothing. Then finally i could sign in at wsb, but of i tried to switch over to gaw it showed me as logged out again. I switched here from being signed in at wsb and had to log in again to post comment but at least it worked.
