I have another example of nonsensical rule enforcement. Last August, my mom took both of her parents to the doctor. She always schedules their appointments back to back on the same day for convenience, and the 3 of them usually go in together just so that 1 grandparent isn’t sitting alone in the waiting room while my mom helps the other. She checks in and they all sit down in the waiting room next to each other. The 20-something year old girl at reception the storms out and tells them they can’t be sitting together because of social distancing rules. The fact that they just came out of the same car and were going to go back into the same car afterwards didn’t matter. My mom was able to argue with her to let them continue sitting together. Then when the first grandparent was called in to see the doctor the receptionist lost her mind again saying that they couldn’t all go see the doctor, again, because of social distancing and they couldn’t have 4 people in the room at once. The logic that the doctor would be in with 3 of them and then in 10 minutes he would swap out 1 patient for the other didn’t matter. No matter how much my mom tried to flex her muscles, the receptionist wouldn’t budge or let them through. The doctor finally came out to see where they were and thankfully put the bitch in her place and took all 3 of them back together. Giving the smallest bit of authority to the dumbest people is a plague.

All any of this has done is give medical workers and grocery store workers huge fucking egos and power trips while increasing the heavy-hand of the government. Oh... also bankrupted many businesses and ruined lives. That too.
