I agree with you and your wife. I was saying as a teenager in highschool (back in 1988) that women are too emotional to vote and serve as politicians. Teacher laughed at me and told me to get back with her in 20 years. Well, it’s been over 30- and I only feel more strong about it now.
But to say that women can own nothing, they can be married against their will as a child, not leave the house alone, need a chaperone if they do, be forced to get female circumcision, honor killings, all women go to hell (or are the majority of people there), polygamy, their own sons or younger brothers are in charge of them, can’t vote, must wear horribly hot, suffocating clothing in burning temperatures, etc- like how can you even say Islam is right about that.
It would be much more effective to speak of God in these matters to make a point, and not Mohammad. And I’m not even particularly religious.
But saying Islam is right about women is akin to saying women are not even real humans and it’s OK to treat them that way. I feel certain you would never put your own wife through any of those things.
I wouldn’t even have a problem with that, but I would add that you have to be a landowner- have a homestead and line of work. I would even go so far as to add military and government service for x amount of time. (2 years and 2 years)
If the government is to be its people, and the vote is to mean anything- people have to be a part of it to make it better. Voting should be a privilege you receive for being a productive member of society.
totally agree maybe not the land owner as in england the more land the more important the vote led to a unstoppable ruler class 1800s england was a shithole for anyone poor
