Vaccines have always taken several years to test after production. The rona ones were fast tracked within months. The world is basically one huge phase 3 trial right now because politicians couldn't just quarantine the old and weak. Nonono they had to quarantine even the people that aren't at risk of getting sick and shut down society for everybody.
