I mean, that's how herd immunity works. You need enough people to have resistance so the virus is starved of new hosts to replicate in.

But, we're already there with Covid, and we got there without the vaccine, and would have gotten there faster without the lockdowns. This experimental vaccine is an unnecessary gamble for anyone young and healthy.
