Remember the energy the media put into reporting in the "alt-right" in 2016 and 2017? Alt Right, of course was a term 99+% of those labeled with it never chose for themselves. The supposed ideology of the movement encompassed anything from libertarians, to national socialists (emphasis on socialists) to literal liberals disaffected by Democrat party politics. It was a made up, bullshit term from the get go, yet still the media worked breathlessly to prop it up as real.
Then you have Antifa, the name of a literal 1930s-era German communist organization, with literal violent communist ideology attached to it, and literal local chapters of Antifa whose members literally call themselves Antifa, and the media says they're a "loosely defined political movement with no organizational hierarchy who's only real goal is to oppose fascism."
My point here is that when it came to a term used to discredit the right, it mattered not that it was a made up term with no coherent political ideology behind it, which was rejected by vast majority of the people labeled by it. Then when it came to a very real and literal communist movement with its own handbook for violent street tactics and it's own avowed adherents, the media went "lol, Drumpf thinks Antifa is an actual organization with a leadership structure." The vast majority of the mainstream media absofuckinglutely picks sides and fudges around definitions, stats, figures and all other standards that could conceivably force the left to admit it's own violent, shitty tendencies. When it's the right, they cast a broad net, and when it's the left they breathlessly obfuscate and lie.

Beautifully said pede. One of the best comments I've ever read on here.
