I don't even think the Mexican Constitution allows them to stay. They wouldn't be able to receive any benefits, or even own land. I know this because I wanted to rent an apartment in mexico a few years ago and I was not allowed. Then I looked up the laws and they are very strict. You can't even criticize the Mexican President if you are not a citizen.
