No society has made it back from this type of tyranny. Once is has the power structures, courts, etc, it is historically over. Not sure what happens between now and then but doesn't seem to be a way to get back. Not dooming, reading articles like this one inform the perspective.

Several have...in Europe. It can be done. But keep in mind that problems (and thus solutions to end those problems) tend to be generational.

I recommend looking up The Fourth Turning. It's a pretty old book now, but it gives you an idea that a lot of these things run on a cycle, generations are like seasons, and right now we're in "winter".

We're at the precipice, indeed. But we're basically at the end of a cycle that began with World War 2. The "solutions" to all the "problems" back then are coming back to bite us. Whatever happens, we'll enjoy or be stuck with it for probably 80-100 years. But cultures have to renew themselves at least once per human lifespan.

Teach your kids right, well, your grandchildren and great grandchildren may know prosperity again someday.

If it is of any comfort, if we apply the conclusions of the Fourth Turning to China, you start realizing they're also pretty damn close to a precipice as well... Which I believe is why we're stuck with COVID-1984. They needed an excuse to kill or otherwise silence dissidents who were growing in number.

The tyrant was across the ocean then.

Didn't the French help us too? Or was that something else?

And we have connections out of country this time too. I picked up on it during election season, nations that don't recognize Biden are all in support of Trump. Though it's not a huge number, India, Brazil, Mexico, North Korea, Australia, Italy, Taiwan, a few others. We're not entirely on our own. And we have the people in the right places to prevent direct Chinese interference in this revolutionary war.

That was one of the most amazing things about Donald Trump. He doesn't just have the support of Americans and British, he has the support of most of the world!

English society didn't make it back from that. A new one was born after a bloody war which required direct intervention of a foreign power, and numerous acts of God.
