One of my extended family members sent me an "invitation" to a "baby shower" last summer. It was to be a "drive-through shower" where you were asked to wear a mask, stay in your car, and just hand off the gift. One of the relatives (not the actual mom-to-be) was to tend the drive through and give you a goodie bag. The invitation not only specified that you stay in the car, but also asked that you not stay and chat - just hand off your present and leave. You wouldn't even see the recipient.
I usually attend (or at least send a gift) to those baby showers. But that pissed me off. I ignored the "invitation" completely.
Wow... Just wow... Reminds me of those stupid car commercials where a family drives by the grandparents' house and wave with birthday banners. What's the point. For people who do this shit IRL, I'm also thinking when the grandparents are old and don't have many years left, is that how they want their final years to be like? If I have limited years on this earth I would want to live like a normal person.
What's worst is when people are young and healthy acting like fools like this. My friend pissed me off for my birthday. She showed up at my door wearing a freaking face diaper with a gift. That's it. No hanging out, no chatting. Fuck her gift, I don't care about that. I would rather spend quality time with people.
This is similar to what I want to do if I throw a birthday party. No masks allow! If you're so scared you can drop off my present instead.
