I pretty much always have it set to "new". Wouldn't everyone want to see the newest stuff? I want to see new shit...not old shit.
I start off on hot when I log on to make sure I catch up with the topline news and memes. Might also get into some conversations in the comments on a few posts. The rest of the time I'm browsing on new or rising.
