It's pretty strange that people who have unlimited access to gov't money and personal fortunes sometimes fly commercial.
My best guess is that larger airports may be fully utilized at certain times and private planes can't be worked into the schedule. Then it might be more convenient or timely to take a commercial flight instead of using a smaller airport that could require more drive time to access.
