They took everything from him twice, and he rebuilt twice by domesticating wild bees, selling honey and investing back into farming. Finally commies had enough and sent him to Siberia. Same here. Mine had his entire family, cousins and everything, deported to labor camps or disappeared. Nobody came back alive except him and that's only because he agreed to be "re-educated".
grandparents survived holodomor and nazi concentration camps. they even knew stalin was a bigger monster than they portrayed hitler to be. no gas chambers. those were delousing chambers. lice was a huge problem. cut grandmother's hair off because of it. inhabitants were used as workers.. either farming or the factories. why slaughter perfectly good slave labor? starvation and disease killed enough people as is. conditions only worsened as the war continued and resources became scarce. the act of liberation claimed more lives as people starved to death during that time period. people eventually transferred to DP camps. those who got on bus back to soviet union ended up murdered by stalin as alleged spies. he was a paranoid piece of shit.

Well, as someone who has used books as toilet paper, I can assure you it's not thoroughly absorbent. That pede was right. You have to scrunch them up and kinda abrade the page against its folds to loosen it a bit (you'll see what I mean if you ever find yourself in that situation). Sometimes it takes a few minutes so you have to start the process while you're on the shitter. Newspaper works a bit better but it's not strong enough so you have to double or triple ply it. NGL, when I read Fahrenheit 451 as a child, I was a bit confused why book burning was so controversial ... I'd been using them to make fire for years. I really did see western toilet paper as a much more valuable product.

Stalin was systemically brutal and for longer time.
