As a sales tax number holder who is low enough volume to only need to file annually, I keep track of all the places I go set up and report to the state showing around $100, $120 in taxes due each year. The tax year runs March 1 to Feb 28 (29). Some counties and cities have different rates so you have to keep track and report that way.
I knew 2020 would be down but I was even surprised at how much. From 25 or so events in about 10 separate taxing districts I did three small ones and the total in taxes was just under $20. Of the three one was just before the first lockdown nonsense started.
I kind of hope as the state gets a clue as everyone else who files annually turns their reports in (due in a couple days) and they see a huge drop in revenue.
It's true I've sold more on eBay to make up the difference, but eBay handles taxes like Amazon - they collect, they pay, and I never handle that part of the money. So I expect all the traveling vendors and all the smaller stores (pretty much anyone under close to $40,000 in sales) will show much lower numbers for their in person transactions.
same here - manufacturing - normally 6-12K, this year 1,600. suck it.gov
Fuel purchases are still way down. What about all those massive shortfalls?
Travel, food, and entertainment industry always have had a lot of taxes imposed by locals.
Those are all down as well.
These states will be pushing for federal bailouts. They have to. Uniparty will deliver. Plan accordingly.
