People have a hard time visualizing it with money but if you tell them it's a company worth $1 Billion and there is 1 million shares worth $1000 dollars each and the CEO decides to print another 1 million shares to give to his friends, they start to get it.
The company isn't suddenly going to be worth 2 Billion. Each share will just be worth less.
