I may be taking some liberties here but if I understand Aristotle correctly, he said that there can be no real debate unless people share the same interests. When people with fundamentally different interests "debate" the subject of the debate becomes a political football, which at best gets used as a proxy or facade for the competing interests. Looking at phenomenon like the "math is racist" movement, I think it's clear that so many people have dog-piled on top of that political football by now that it can no longer be seen, it's not even a debate so much as a growing pile of bodies.
So, Biden stole the election. He's being green screened (or whatever the specific term is) with giant microphones and so-on. I think it's clear that either way, we were headed towards dysfunction. The left wants to make the steal permanent and then they will ban math while printing money or something, which is one generation away from collapse. The right wanted to do things in a more sane way but having been granted the pretext of the coronavirus, the left has us supposedly suffering 1,000 times the casualties of the rest of the world because it allows them to grind our civilization to a halt.
I don't believe there can be a democracy without debate. I don't believe that real debate happens anymore. We are headed towards a dictatorship and then likely a split. But we are still superficially a democracy until then. Is there a term for this political condition?
Oligarchy
