Have a dottering old man stumble out to a handful of friendly journalists and fail to answer two questions before getting on a helicopter.
Then there is the fact that if it was fake, it was done so intentionally. Having Biden's hand go both in front and behind the dead cat mic means that there would have been extra editing complexity because you then have to keyframe both the mic and Biden instead of just Biden.
