Years ago I never really thought anything about it.

What I'm saying is they may have been legitimately hired for the role and not their race but now I question if every single one is a diversity hire

There is one particular woman at work who I believe is a diversity hire, but I would never vocalize it anywhere that would call her out. Dangerous for the both of us.
