Disruptions are normal, it’s the combative students that escalate when reprimanded. Overwhelmingly black males are the ones who blow up when you tell them to stay focused and stop disrupting others around them. Nobody is targeting black boys over the other kids, they get off task too and need to be redirected like this, but the referrals and suspensions are through the roof because certain demographics buck authority and celebrate defiance and buffoonery.

My daughter is disruptive in school because she inherited my shitty adhd apparently. She is smart, she has parents that reinforce good behavior in the classroom, and she still disrupts. But holy hell is she NEVER going to speak to her teachers the way some kids speak to me sometimes. These policies will never impact her because when she gets reprimanded once, that better be the end of her shenanigans at least for a little while. Parents need to back up the schools, not just with education but also the disciplining.
