I was going through these comments thinking "Damn, y'all are fancy". Finally someone who shops the way I do. JC Penny has very nice dresses and they usually always have some sort of sale going on.
We used to have a Dress Barn in our local Outlet Mall, and I shopped there a lot. They have a good selection of business clothes in a large range of sizes. They are mostly online now. dressbarn.com
A nicely cut dress is hard to find these days without spending $$$. Every now and then I would find something at H&M. When building your new wardrobe might I suggest separates. Then you can mix and match. I like the Capri slacks from Old Navy, with a nice blouse and heels and a clean belt. Later you can mix it up with a pencil skirt, etc. neutral colors, accessories are key, less is more. Dress for you, your body type and style, instead of whatever they’re trying to push these days.
Buy classic pieces -- pencil skirts and button ups in different colors -- and then dress up with accessories/statement jewelry. You can also put a twist on your classic combo by mixing unusual colors like deep red with navy blue, navy blue with orange, pink with green etc. Depends on how bold you are. ;)
Invest in a classic/structured purse, not a floppy one.
Train your eye by looking at how these and other stores style their clothes and see what you like and what you think looks good on you. Find your style.
Speaking as a husband (I’ll keep this short), my wife has a helluva time finding dresses these days. Whenever we have an event to attend she usually has to go to shopping in a larger city, and even then it’s hit or miss.
I have found some pretty dresses at Ross, but they are usually a miss, but sometimes they have really pretty dresses. You have to go to different locations and look often. I have found a couple cute dresses at Target also (but not lately). I just lost 75 pounds, so am finally wearing dresses again since I am back in a size 8.
Decent, flattering, well-made dresses are a nightmare to find. I have gone to separates for professional wear. Consider finding a seamstress to make some.
One of my favorite stores for a work professional look is Talbots. Perfect for law office work as they have nice slacks, skirts, jackets and dresses.
Wife swears by Lands End "ponte" dresses:

She has a bunch in different colors. Stretchy and flattering and they have hidden pockets too, which I am told is rare for women's dresses.
JC penny has cute dresses at a good price.

Learn to sew so you can control your own wardrobe and not have gay fashion pushed on you.
Also, didn’t Ivanka have a clothing line selling dresses for working women for about $120?

Wow. Good for you (if the loss was intentional)
Yes, I switched to low carb. I feel so much better.

I buy a lot of my dresses at JC Penny or just random searches online if I'm looking for a certain type such as sundresses with warm weather coming up.
