Wolves and ducks mate for life. If their mates die, some never take another.

Rabbits mate at random and if half their brood is killed and eaten, well the other half is still alive and if they get eaten too just try again next season.

R-K selection applies to more than just sexual strategy. It also affects attachment levels and grief.
