REEEEEEE! "That's because lockdowns and double masks and social distancing and alcohol wiping groceries down and bankrupting small businesses and increasing other forms of death including suicide brought the numbers down!"
Somehow everyone forgot that the point of lockdowns when "Flatten the Curve" started was never to bring the total number of deaths down, but to slow the rate of the SAME NUMBER OF DEATHS that would occur no matter what you did. Something . . . something hospitals would be overwhelmed if we didn't slow the rate.
Well, apparently the number of COVID hospitalizations nearly doubled this past January vs the numbers during the first spring lockdowns in March/April and we didn't hear nary a peep about medical facilities being overrun and bogged down.
No outdoor overflow medical tents set up, convention facilities converted to field hospitals, aircraft carriers repurposed for patients. Nada.
