Didn't Hitler come to power, and his tactics accepted, because the historical situation nudged the people into craving, above all else, strength from its leader?
The Communist party got 14% of the National vote in 32' - the Socialist Party (not notzees) got 24%... that is basically 1/3 Germany voting commy pinko at that time. (and that was a very very different time then today)
