It can certainly be reformed. The dishonesty of the leadership with the base is actually an indication that reform is possible as in order to appeal to their base they must not reveal their true intensions. In this situation, we just need to pay more attention to the primary process and make sure candidates move on who should and politicians who did not live up to their ideals are cutoff.
It can be time for a new party, but that is when the politicians are being honest about what they are trying to do and doing the wrong things rather than when they are being dishonest about what they intend to do and doing the wrong things.

At the absolute height of the MAGA movement and with Trump as President barely any supporters were elected to Congress. The GOP establishment blocked their nominations.
