I've seen that damned warning on a pure piece of brass. And there's not a single medical study on brass cancer.

Pure madness.

I work with this stuff. It is true. Some brass will contain lead which causes cancer. Also the idea behind the warning label is to let people make informed decisions when using the product. I hate everything about california but these prop 65 warnings are helpful.

Brass causes cancer? Yes. It contains lead. Source: http://www.meritbrass.com/InformationalPdfs/Prop%2065%20letter%20to%20customers.pdf

For the first few weeks of use, lead may leech into water from new faucets. Even those labeled as “lead free.” Source: http://blogs.edf.org/health/2019/08/21/update-lead-from-new-lead-free-brass-faucets/

What it does not mean: Avoid everything forever.

What it does mean: If all the faucets in your home are brand new, maybe you should add a filter after the faucet before letting your toddler drink the water at least for the first few weeks.
