In fairness, I like to point to the destruction of the Indigenous as showing you what happens when you leave it to the government to "take care of people".
They basically raped, abused, sterilized, drugged them, turned them into alcoholics, 2nd class citizens and essentially wiped them out. And they still don't have clean water.
I know plenty of stories that highlight how they contribute to their own demise. But nevertheless, they are the best example you can ever have of what the government will do to a population that depends on it.
Agreed, so the solution is not more government, it's less. Abolish the Indian Act and integrate the Indians into our culture. No more apartheid state in Canada and having whites being tested like second class citizens compared to the indigenous. Forget the treaties, just conquer them officially and annex their land. It will be better for them and Canada in the long term.
