The problem is that most politicians have huge weaknesses, and they get exploited during their campaign by donors and the party machine who expect something for their help when they elected. The special thing about Trump was that he already had everything he needed, what was the deep state going to do? You can’t take away his income cause he’s a billionaire, and you can’t threaten his future cause well he’s already basically past retirement age. But career politicians need income to win the next election and to ensure their future, they are simply too vulnerable. We need someone who is beholden to no-one but the electorate and that person is damn hard to find.
