No, I don't think so. I don't like it, and it comes through in her work, particularly at the end of Atlas Shrugged. I am mature enough to accept that I do not have to like it. I cannot help but feel it poisons the well.
Yes she was an atheist, but that does not make her words about the corruption of the man-made institution of government any less true.
God is sovereign over all governments and men. He raises some leaders up, and destroys others. He instructs us not to block the path of fools, yet promises that the righteous man will have the power to defeat legions of soldiers.
Rand coming from a atheistic Communist system chose not to believe in a power greater than what man could achieve. Sadly, she limited herself to what was possible to here on earth.
Both Christianity and Objectivism acknowledge evil and evil men. Christianity states that God is supreme and we should seek his wisdom to deal with the problem and suffering at hand, whereas Objectivism teaches you not to give in, stick to your guns, and look out for your rational self-interest when confronted by the looters and agents of pull.
It's worth pointing that Christians in a way have already gone to Galt's Gulch, forming separatist institutions such as schools, and as a result have stopped resisting, pulling themselves out of any position of influence in a school system that educates the majority in this country. At this point we look at the brainwashed legions of children and young adults and ask ourselves, "how did this happen?"
It happened because we confused "being in the world vs. being of the world"
The calls from many on this board and elsewhere about getting involved in school boards and local politics is exactly what needs to occur.
I watch the Left try to divide us through race, first with White/Black relationships and now White/Asian relationships and I laugh, only because their fears about these groups of people are so obviously projected. Christianity among Asians is one of the fastest growing belief systems. Black Americans are starting to reach a tipping point where they can no longer believe the failed promises from the Racist Left as it runs counter to the beliefs and values they hold or had been exposed to.
None of the struggles in the Black community can be solved by man on earth, and that's the Left's greatest fear.
In closing, Atlas Shrugged, The Fountainhead, We the Living, and Anthem were great books, but there is one book, The Bible, that I can trust without question.
Also, Pence has some major problems with his religious stance if he will knowingly endorse obvious fraud. Christians ought to be about truth. Fraud is not truth. That calls into question their religiosity. I dont really want someone to merely be religious. There are plenty of frauds that are religious.
But irreligion is not an acceptable replacement for religion. I want for people to be truly religious and provide for the fatherless and the widows.
I also do not think my opinion is better than Rand's. I am a flawed human being, just as she was. By the Grace of God, I believe on Christ, and I lament that she did not.
I disagree with that. Religion is highly important, and should call into question the values of a person. I do not want people like Rand locked up over their beliefs. That would be abhorrent to me. I also think it is folly to be godless.
Be that as it may, people should be free to choose. I would not disagree with Rand on that point.
The value of someone's life is greater than their religious opinion, without question. My point is that I value the soul of someone more than I value their opinions on economics. Throwing away ones own soul is pitiful to me, and leading people astray in religion is to be spoken out against. Rand wrote of the great symbol at the end of Atlas Shrugged, and I found it evident that she wished to replace God with capitalism and personal development. Perhaps I am wrong, but I do not base my opinion on that alone.
Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when was it that we saw you hungry and gave you food, or thirsty and gave you something to drink? And when was it that we saw you a stranger and welcomed you, or naked and gave you clothing? And when was it that we saw you sick or in prison and visited you?’ And the king will answer them, ‘Truly I tell you, just as you did it to one of the least of these who are members of my family, you did it to me.’

Not what a person claims to believe.
She revealed her innate belief in God naked in the Fountainhead courtroom scene with Roark.
We are not to judge by their words, but rather their works. If it were words, then they would all simply be a lie, more likely than not, for rhetoric is most often but a lie.
Ayn Rand is a hero.
She was an atheist. For me that is a zero sum game. Inspiring people about economics is fine, but at the cost of their souls, everyone loses.
Should we assume everything she has written is bull-shit because she didn't accept Jesus as her savior?
Stalin and Mao were atheists as well. Do you think if Ayn joined them for dinner they'd get along swimmingly?
I will never discount the wisdom of anyone based on religious beliefs.

Excellent and thoughtful response.
Judging people by their religious beliefs is actually stupid. You must think Pence is a standup guy.

By their words you shall know them.
