I saw 0 of the movies that were winning awards this year, and I reckon most of them fucking suck in some way. Maybe an odd lucky break or something in there. Kinda knew we were fucked when documentaries started getting accolades outside of their own niche category bc there are literally no decent blockbuster films or regular films to win awards on their own merit, without critics jerking them off on Boughtten Tomatoes

Big Movies need hundreds of millions of dollars up front to guarantee the salary of the stars and the 'production quality' - they also control distribution to movie theaters... that is why few if any independent Films hit the mainstream.
