Raising minimum wage literally just makes me as an engineer more valuable to society while taking jobs away from other people. I'm not a fan of this but hey I'll still have a job so they can argue for whatever they want I guess.
Minimum wage will always be zero, regardless of what the official rate is or even profession. If you don't have the skills, nobody will hire you.
I think that the min wage is a local issue, not fed. They can't expect middle of nowhere to pay 15/h when it doesn't even happen in major cities. The natural outcome of a (major chain) grocery store paying 7.25 while Wegmans 1 mi down the road is 14-15 is that the lower paying store gets few or less desirable applicants and has to beg for apps on Facebook.
