Legislatures tried to get a special session which governors refused. Those who did, did it late or pretended to do it while flailing around. Similar to the AZ audit where 1 R voted no and fucked it up
All the State Legislatures did was complain, all they had to do was decertify, or hand those votes over to Trump. They have that authority, they chose not to. It's as simple as that. SCOTUS rulings confirmed that.
