I'm a black dude with a 4 year degree. I grew up in Chicago and heard it all in jr high and high school. The harassment, the heckling. It wasn't stop being white, it was stop being smart. Stop making the rest of us look bad. Stop "ruining the curve."

It's so much easier to tear someone down than climb that ladder, put in the effort and money. Cut those fools from your life, leave them behind and save yourself or their dead weight will make you one of them. I made it out alive and without going to the pen.

Used to work in "bad" neighborhoods that happened to be predominantly black. One black guy I knew was making a decent union wage, guaranteed 40 hours a week, retirement, insurance, etc. Every day on his breaks and lunch, he would change clothes and go back to his apartment so that people wouldn't realize he had a job and rob his shit.

Another black dude that worked there worked his way up through the ranks, and got into management, despite having a rough childhood with parent that thought his goal of being successful was stupid. He decided he would reward himself by buying a new car. The car he bought was a super common model, nothing fancy, but it was new and it was his. When his old friends from the hood asked how he got it, he told them he got into management at the company. They all stopped talking to him for "acting white."

This shit pisses me off because I see so many kids who are bright and willing to work, but believe there's no point and they throw their lives away. Hell, I even had a dude who wanted to move to a different part of the company. So I gave his name to 2 of the supervisors there and wrote a letter of recommendation. There weren't any supervisor spots open, and the company wasn't increasing the budget for over a year. Found out later he tried to sue the company claiming the management at our location were racist and holding him back. Not to mention over that year, he started to be late often, and sometimes just didn't show up.

I won't say racism doesn't exist, but the race hustlers out there are making minorities (and white liberals) think it's every where. And it's killing us. Even got a post today from a guy on a politics group I'm in that if a white person commits a crime against a non-white person, it's racist no matter what the actual motive. Fucking clown world.
