A friend of mine who is a raging leftist (yes, I know) invited my family and me to visit her summer house this summer, but she said we have to be vaccinated. I told her that if she and her family are vaccinated, why should it matter whether we are vaccinated? If the vaccine works, you're protected. It's been a while since I've gone to school, but I'm pretty sure that's what a vaccine is supposed to do.
She claimed that the vaccine does not protect you from getting covid, but it lessens the symptoms when you get it. I have no idea whether this is the case, but it sounds pretty weird to me. I reminded her that in my family we all have had it already and with minimal symptoms, they really couldn't have been much less. I told her that if the vaccine doesn't prevent people from getting the virus, then the vaccine sucks and there's no point in us getting it. I told her that if it will make her feel better, I'll lie to her and say we all got it if we decide to come. Not that we will actually go, because my wife doesn't want to associate with any democrats anymore, but that's another story.
Very bizarre, these leftists.
I know the madness well. Still it is shocking when one encounters such bizarre incongruent behavior.
On the bright side, if you and your wife need a holiday, I can recommend a town in AZ called Wickenberg. We have just returned from a discovery trip. This place is hopping! No masks, people from all over the US congregated there celebrating people returning to a normal life. I mean there are people who elect to wear masks BUT there is no state mandate. No one is grilling anybody on vaccinations. I presume its also personal choice but no mandates. I get the impression its a conservative, friendly population in a very attractive high desert setting. Anyway, propose it as an alternative get-a-way to your wife and see where that takes you! Good luck!
Sounds awesome. I have family in AZ, I'll ask them about it!
I was really impressed. It was so good to be somewhere that was more than any expectation for a change. I think we all need to experience that after what we have all been through in the last year. If #45 was sitting in that leadership role there is no telling where we would be in terms of excelling all of our expectations.
