And even then Mohammed couldn't get it right. Mary is called the "daughter of Imran" in Quran 66:12, the "sister of Aaron" in 19:28, and the "daughter of the wife of Imran" in 3:35-36.
Mohammed couldn't tell the difference between the Mary in the New Testament and Mary from the Old Testament who lived one thousand years earlier. There was such a person in the OT (Numbers 26:59). Even the phrase "sister of Aaron" appears in the OT (Exodus 15:20). But that's not the Mary, the mother of Jesus. Moses was not Jesus' uncle.
Christians in Mohammed's time recognized the error in Koran 19:28 and called Mohammed out on it (Sahih Muslim 5326). Mohammed lied to cover his error: he claimed people used to give nicknames based on the apostles and other pious persons. There is zero historical record of this practice in first-century Israel, nor is this practice mentioned anywhere else in the Koran. Mohammed simply made a mistake and tried to cover it up by lying and inventing an non-existent "tradition."

Further, in Ibn Kathir's tafsir on 19:28, he says Aisha called Ka'b a liar for saying Mary, the mother of Jesus, wasn't the sister of Aaron and Moses. Why would Aisha call him a liar unless she were convinced the Koran says Mary the mother of Jesus and Mary the sister of Aaron and Moses were the same person? The Koran, which is supposed to be so "clear," led Aisha and the other early Muslims into error.
But this error in the Koran gets even worse. In 1 Chronicles 6:1-3 in the Old Testament, the father of Moses, Aaron, and Miriam is "Amram" (Imran in Arabic). Mohammed repeatedly misidentified Mary, the mother of Jesus, as the daughter of Imran: twice in the Koran (3:35-36 and 66:12) and also in the ahadith (Sahih Bukhari 3769).
When you're an illiterate 7th century caravan trader and you overhear Christians talking about Mary, and Jews talking about Mary (Miriam), it might seem like they're talking about the same person. Either that, or their demon-god Allah didn't know the difference between Mary the mother of Jesus and the Mary of the OT, which is an astounding amount of ignorance for a "god," don't you think?
Additionally, in Muslim heaven, Mary, the mother of Jesus, is married to and defiled by the vile Mohammed (Ibn Kathir, Qisas al-Anbiya). She is one of several of his wives from the Bible, which include Moses' sister and Pharaoh's wife.
Keep in mind that in Islam, wives cannot refuse sex (Sunan Ibn Majah 1853). The most important thing a woman brings to a marriage is unrestricted access to her sexual parts (Sahih Bukhari 62:81) and raping one's wife is allowed (Quran 2:223).
Now put Mary in that context, with Mohammed. As a Catholic you should be thoroughly horrified and outraged.
