I live in a snowpacalypse state as well. I got the expected higher electric bill in February after having to run a few space heaters around the house. Then, just got my latest bill, and it was equally high even though our electrical usage dropped massively with the mild spring weather. Upon further examination, there is a surcharge of $75 being added to both bills, and a note saying it would continue to be applied for 10 months to offset increase in rates during snowmageddon.
An extra $750 slapped on just because!!!! Lot of people are going to struggle with that along with the skyrocketing gas prices. Also, my state just approved closing of a gas and coal power plant.
