Now explain the NAACP acronym.

23
XisDshizL 23 points ago +23 / -0

I've said many times in the past that it needs to be renamed the National Association for the Advancement of African Americans - or NAAAA for short ;)

12
Smarmcastic 12 points ago +12 / -0

Well, maybe .... on second thought ... naaaa.

6
Alpinix 6 points ago +6 / -0

Ah, yes the N-double-double-A, or the N-double-A with two more A's, or the N-quadruple-A, or the... naaaa, nevermind.

5

How about the Western Association for the Advancement of African Americans, or WAAAA for short?

5

And the United Negro College Fund

BINGO!

3

Should be NAABP because obviously they are only advocating for one specific color.

I asked my half black brother in law to explain to me the difference between “people of color” and “colored people” and why one is offensive. Because to me “people of color” is just a clunkier way of saying the same thing. He didn’t have an answer, he just said “it’s not up to you to decide what is and isn’t offensive.”

35
Miracle_on_Ice 35 points ago +35 / -0

Did he also ever happen to say "it is not my responsibility to educate you?" That's the other popular response given when leftists talking about race and oppression don't have an answer, in a desperate attempt to make it sound like there is actually an answer.

21
GeoG85 21 points ago +21 / -0

For a half brother to preech to you racist mind games, that'd be a red flag for me.

“it’s not up to you to decide what is and isn’t offensive.” That is some pompous, sniffing your own ass level if ya ask me.

pray4peace4 11 points ago +11 / -0

At work I was talking to a facility manager who also happened to be my manager's girlfriend, & she wanted to know who authorized me to perform the work I was doing. I couldn't remember the guy's name so I told her he was the director upstairs. She asked "which one?" I said "he's a tall black guy." When I got back to my office, my manager called me in & reamed me out for calling the director a racist name! I wasn't going to put up with that & told him right to his face "Black is not a racial epithet. There's nothing wrong with saying someone's Black. He's a Black guy. That's all there is to this." Man that pissed me off.

3
BloodyWolf 3 points ago +3 / -0

Good for you for being brave in that situation. God, I hate living in a Leftist state ...

6
buttholemania 6 points ago +6 / -0

It puts “people” first. It doesn’t define the way “colored people” does - it makes it a trait of the person, not the person.

Hope this helps.

It’s a semantic gymnastics game, apparently describing people in a way one would in straight word for word translations from Romance languages is nicer than the good old way we do in Germanic languages.

6
magasf3n 6 points ago +6 / -0

But then why wouldn’t you say “a person of gayness” instead of a gay person. Or a person of whiteness instead of white person. Feels like wokeness, not semantics.

16
FaradayCage 16 points ago +17 / -1

Never thought of myself to be "people of white". I grew up in a rural neighborhood that had a few races represented. I did not see the differences until people on the left told me, I should see a difference. NOT TRUE. I knew there was a difference. My neighbors were a different shade than I was. My neighbors, who were darker skinned than me had different interests than I did. My neighbors, who I never, ever would think to disparage had different interests in music. They had different tastes in food. I hung out with my neighbors. We talked about what made us different, and what made us the same. We of course were different, but hung together anyway. The only time I ever felt weird was when the amount of races shifted away from my race. All the sudden the dialect would change. Now, I was the minority. (stopping here because I just realized this story could fill the pages of a best seller.

MrBlack 13 points ago +14 / -1

I'm one of the people 2 of colors, I identify as an American. Also grew up in the 90's where it was a pride point to identify as American, this generation is fucking lost.

14
grassshrimp 14 points ago +14 / -0

The left constantly redefines words in order to show how woke they are and how racist we are when we don't catch on quickly enough.

6
honk_honk_honk 6 points ago +6 / -0

It's especially funny when in English woke activists push for new gender pronouns and in German they're trying to abolish the different genders. I sure love ideologies that don't make any damn sense.

Then again I guess the point isn't logic, it's the destruction of our society.

4
BlackPillBot 4 points ago +4 / -0

Funny enough it started with the actual bullshit term racism.

4
current_horror 4 points ago +4 / -0

The second part is why they actually do it. The euphemism treadmill seems like a moderate annoyance - at first glance. The truth is it's entirely strategic; the left makes political and cultural hay in the harrow window between when they create a new term and when they enforce it. That window involves collecting as many conservative scalps as possible.

11
Cmchn 11 points ago +11 / -0

It's a power move-- they're showing you they can make you use something dangerously close to something they can ruin you with, knowing they can change it at any second and ruin you for doing what you were told.

5
MAGApride 5 points ago +5 / -0

This is how I see it as well. The left is always looking to use history as a weapon. It is why they absolutely love slavery so much because it is like having a gun with unlimited ammunition.

By changing the language they can point back in history and accuse their targets. Those who used the appropriate-for-the-time language can now be attacked for being bigots/racists/misogynists/xenophobes/etc. Those today who use the term "People of Color" will be targeted in the future by the left for using racist language when the left deems that "People of Color" is an offensive phrase.

3
BlackPillBot 3 points ago +3 / -0

That’s the thing though, they don’t even actually use history. They use their fucked up version/perception of history. There is no winning with these people, that’s why you put them in their place real fast with undeniable reality, and then walk away. Slavery is their biggest go to, and has been forever to push the hoax of black victimization that started the day sub Saharan Africans chose to hunt, capture, abuse, and then sell their own people, most of whom ended up in South America, to the highest bidder, some of whom were black. Their beef is with black folks who they should actually be thanking for selling their ancestors, and allowing them to make it here. They should be thinking god that they aren’t in Africa or South America.

3
sanitaryshave 3 points ago +3 / -0

They're not pissed at oppression. They're pissed that they are not the oppressors.

8
Kamekaze 8 points ago +8 / -0

A brilliant observation from what seemed to be a Twitter post I found here said this,

One of the tragic ironies of being an older Millennial is having trapped the benefits of the Civil Rights struggle, only to watch the younger Millennials match America back into segregation.

That's why it's so dangerous to let the commie friendly globalists continue to have a stranglehold on media and education.

19American62Woman 8 points ago +8 / -0

My grandma called the little ones jigaboos! But she was born in the 1800’s

8
BlackPillBot 8 points ago +8 / -0

I always laughed at that one because it sounded so funny. My friends mom who is black use to call us that and porch monkeys when we were little. I never knew porch monkey was considered bad until I got pretty old since it made sense. We would usually be hanging out playing, and doing dumb shit on the front porch, front lawn and stuff, so I never though twice about it. It just goes to show you that people who aren’t looking for drama, hate, and “racism” everywhere will find much less of it, and context and intent always matter. The left doesn’t want you to live this way though, because it destroys all their power and control.

Edit: oh how I miss that woman. She could cook her ass off, and was super sweet. In fact I can remember eating homemade fried chicken on the porch and the front lawn during the summer. I know y’all not gonna believe me, but we’d have watermelon too. Then we’d run around in the sprinkler with squirt guns, and water balloons. That was some good as times before the left completely destroyed everything. 😞

6
C_Taylor 6 points ago +6 / -0

You know why black peoples love watermelon?

Because they are delicious. Everybody loves watermelon. How does it get to be a stereotype of just one group to like something that is generally awesome like watermelon?

I refer, of course, only to proper watermelons bred for taste with big seeds you can spit. Not the ones bred to be small or have little bitty seeds.

2
BlackPillBot 2 points ago +2 / -0

I totally agree. Same goes for friend chicken. I’ve never met a person who doesn’t love good friend chicken.

7
Pittsburgh_Rare 7 points ago +7 / -0

The minute, pilpul difference between the "offensive" phrase and the "proper" phrase is neurotic to the highest degree. Blacks are not neurotic enough to invent something this trivial.

This bullshit has long-nosed tribe written all over it.

I remember watching "Guess Who's Coming to Dinner" and Sydney Poitier's character insisted in being referred to as NEGRO. I guess he was a White Supremacist by today's idiotic standards.

ps Since WHITE is the merging of ALL COLOR, I think we are already People of Color.

7
Miracle_on_Ice 7 points ago +7 / -0

You're a little too late, as Sydney Poitier was already deemed "problematic" by the left literally two-or-so weeks ago for that exact movie:

My grandma called Asians "Orientals." Not that she was really prejudiced, she just used an older term.

5
BlackPillBot 5 points ago +5 / -0

I still call them that, and will continue to, and will correct anyone stupid enough to correct me. There is nothing wrong with it. Asia is a continent and oriental just means East Asia. There is nothing wrong with it, and anyone taking offense to it is evil, and looking for drama to gain power over you.

If I was in the East, and someone there referred to, or described me as the occidental man, I could give too shits. People always looking to be offended can get fucked.

7
ravioli_king 7 points ago +7 / -0

Wanna talk about confusion... the character "Uncle Tom" from the novel "Uncle Tom's Cabin" is seen as a negative term against black people. The character "Uncle Tom" was the hero of the story. He gave his life so the other slaves could escape. The story "Uncle Tom's Cabin" is cited as one of the things that lead Abraham Lincoln getting elected and freeing the slaves.

I assume back in the era where only 5% of Americans were literate, the actual white supremacists and or slave owners conned everyone into thinking that being called the character's name was an insult when he didn't just free the slaves in the story, the fictional character may have freed all the slaves in America.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Uncle_Tom

3
RedditIsCommunist 3 points ago +3 / -0

I hadn’t really thought about it but you’re right. Also notice the fictional character was based on a real person. (But the real person didn’t get killed, he just didn’t kill anyone else.)

Other stuff people don’t usually know: the Lone Ranger was based on Bass Reeves who was black.

The banjo was invented by African Americans, not Kentucky hillbillies, but it got adopted by Irish people then fell out of use among black people.

Man I once hardcore triggered a retard by saying colored instead of people of color.

#WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK IS THE DIFFERENCE?

2
Skywise 2 points ago +2 / -0

I was a kid in the 80s who's school got desegregated.

Lemme tell you - it was NEVER about unifying people. It's always been about control and power. You can't WIN their game. We HAD racial equality - exactly what people were asking for in the 80s AND more. Was that enough? No. Because it meant that people started focusing on REAL issues.

Remember who "won" the election - "Y'all aint black if you don't vote for me". With the most votes by black people and "black" support.

Whatever the current "name" for American Blacks the left approves changes whenever necessary to be "racist". Then they trot out the new term for a while. Rinse and repeat.....ni&&er (latin for black), colored, negro (spanish for black), black (english for black), African American (libtard for black), people of color etc.....

Control/manipulation of our language is very important to the Leftist Agenda. I have seen many examples of their demands to use a certain term. then a few years later that term is "cancelled" and a new term is demanded. The important part is control, not the words we are/are not "allowed to use."

I have also dealt with a similar Leftist trope of "you're not saying it right!!! TRY AGAIN!!! reeeee." It's a condescending tactic that claims no Deplorable is smart enough to comprehend the nuances of speech: anything from an uncommon unpronounceable ethnic name or word, to a plain-jane American person's name they insist has to be pronounced a special certain way (that only they can hear.)

1
G_regulator 1 point ago +1 / -0

It's all arbitrary, today people of colour will be considered racially sensitive but at anytime they'll reset the goal posts on a whim.

If you can't win, don't try basically. Just do you and be damned with the consequences.

1
Tbaron 1 point ago +5 / -4

This racial division and identity politics is very corrosive and is destroying the quest for a more perfect union.

We've been set back at least 100 years in race relations.

We're all one HUMAN RACE...that's all that matters.

3
randomusers239874 3 points ago +3 / -0

We're all one HUMAN RACE...that's all that matters.

Maybe if you're a creationist. The last common ancestor between Africans, and the people that populated the rest of the world, was 60,000 years ago. In addition, we know that the rate of brain evolution increased 100 fold in the last 10,000 years due to the discovery of agriculture... outside of Africa, as they never discovered agriculture (or written language, the wheel, etc). We are not the same; there are observable and quantifiable differences in our genes, brain morphology, and behavior.

1
Tbaron 1 point ago +1 / -0

Yes...I am familiar with the evolutionary biological changes and adaptations of the different "races" for ecological adaptations, however...the better discriptor here would be "breed."

As technically all human race couples can produce fertile offspring.

2
randomusers239874 2 points ago +2 / -0

I think you're confusing race with species. Races are different breeds, not different species.

1
Tbaron 1 point ago +1 / -0

Yes I misspoke...

The different "races" are just regional evolutionary adaptations.

2
buttholemania 2 points ago +2 / -0

Set back in race relations?

I think it’s going exactly according to plan, and picking up speed.

Everyone is a designated protected group, except who, specifically?

1

1
Tbaron 1 point ago +1 / -0

The point i was making was that we have much more in common as a species/the human race.

The Globalists are the ones that are the promoters of division....trying to divide is into groups based on skin color, sex, gender identity, religion, ethnic tribes, etc. By magnifying minor differences and promoting the division the Globalists are free to rule over us without scrutiny.

1
Tbaron 1 point ago +3 / -2

Was there the huge racial division in the 80s and 90s....absolutely not. There were no race riots, racial identity politics then.

All this racial division is a Democrat/Leftist strategy used for decades since the Civil War to get elected and increase their influence.

Then again....I was raised in Canada at the time...so that maybe part of the reason as well.

3
gDq7BG5efU3PvYb 3 points ago +3 / -0

1992 Los Angeles riots? Rodney King? Any of that ringing a bell? How about 1996 St. Petersburg riots? 1880 in Miami? 1989 in Miami? 1991 Miami again. 1991 Crown Heights? The list goes on. Was there huge racial division in the 80's and 90's. Boomer Kool-Aid says there wasn't.
