Talk to a lawyer and have him submit a letter to your company saying it may be illegal for them to require it from you and you intend to fight if they go through. If they push back, leak it to local news anonymously. Bad PR can be more Dangerous to some companies than lawsuits. Depends on the field.

Initial lawyer cost to retain and send a letter is lower than going to court, and you can always drop it if it gets out of your price range.

Save emails or anything in writing about it, if it is only verbal you may need to check state recording laws and start recording conversations.

Loool that media strategy don't work. Also it's probably an at will employment arrangement so they can just fire you for literally anything else and it's going to be brutal to prove otherwise.
