Califag here. This only opens up registration to those who were unable to (but tried) to register when this law took place. We still have a general ban on evil features. Our choices here are a fixed mag so we can has features, or ugly as sin featureless builds with handgrip fins so we can have detachable mags.
And yes, CA has a registry of all guns you buy. No, it's not cool. Please nuke us, just avoid a particular city in SD county please, or give me a few hours notice!

I thought it was stupid at the time to register and I still do today. Would rather go featureless or maglock and stay off this stupid list.
I have most of my ARs prior to mandatory long gun registration that went into effect in 2014 so the idea of voluntarily adding my rifle to this restrictive list made no sense.
