A newborn baby has no identity with a group. A newborn baby has never even looked in the mirror. A baby recognizes the warm and presence of his/her own mother, and becomes familiar with familiar faces.
As a father of multiple children, I can tell you my experience watching my children. When I took my two year old, three year old, four year old, five year old to the playground, they had no preference in whether they played with a white kid, black kid, hispanic kid, indian kid, or other. To a young child, everything is new and strange. An airplane is amazing. A bird flying by is amazing. A butterfly is amazing.
Racism is taught. You have to teach children racism, as demonstrated in the blue eye brown eye experiment/study.
