This isn't true according to FBI data, but white people do commit disproportionately fewer hate crimes against asians, and black people disproportionately more (albeit only slightly). See:
In 2019, 95/205 (46.3%) of asian hate crime perpetrators were white and 30/205 (14.6%) were black. This compared to their population share of 76.3% and 13.4%, respectively.
That's not to say the media isn't fabricating a hate crime and don't have an anti-white agenda (they are and they do). Just want to make sure people aren't going out into the world throwing this statistic around making an ass out of themselves.
