For me personally, no it isn't. For others it makes all the difference.
It is like if some Muslim guy went out and killed someone he had a personal feud with, it doesn't really matter for the broader population but it still sucks for the victim. Meanwhile, if he went out looking to kill any random non-Muslim, the guy would still be dead all the same, but it would have very different implications for the broader population.
Eh, it kinda matters if it is ideologically motivated or personally motivated.
