The point isn't to poke at Orthodox Jews as much as it is to point out the left's ridiculous inconsistent standards. When you create this juxtaposition it puts them at conflict with themselves because their ideology is self contradictory. They have to be offended that it's a Jew and also not offended at mixing. It's a pretty good logic bomb to make their heads explode. Which ever branch they choose they're racist.
What you are missing is that the left hates Orthodox Jews. Yes, lefty Jews hate Orthodox Jews. Your attempt at discomfiting them, above, might not bother them.
This kind of feels like going down the road the left takes of mollycoddling specific "minorities" (in this case at least Orthodox Jews actually are a minority in numerical terms).
