Conspiracy theories aside, the shoulder patch that they are wearing in this photo seems to be a variation on the insignia of the Special Troops Battalion of the 4th Infantry Division. It's the diamond-shaped patch with four ivy vines of the 4th ID which dates back to WW1 with the armored fist clutching a thunderbolt of the Special Troops Battalion superimposed over it.
