Skimming the Old Testament, the entire history of how well "our Jewish friends" remembered any lesson, no matter how amazing or catastrophic, is eye opening. Deliverance from Egypt including parting of the Red Sea. How soon before the boo hoo complaints and idol worship began? Sodom and Gomorrah? The frikkin flood? Tower of Babel? Babylonian Captivity? And on and on and on. Guppies have better memories and less ego.
Imo people assume being Gods "chosen people" means they're super duper good. Lol. Perhaps they weren't chosen for their goodness? Perhaps, in one group, they represented every wrong turn a human or goup could make, with endless iterations of what happens when wrong turns are made? A human "special ed class? That way every human, no matter how " lost", could find their story and hope? If God had chosen a better group, how could the lost relate to the story God was writing in order to reach them?
Also its the RARE individual among Gods "chosen people" who turns to God and is able to do transformational things. Gods "chosen" tended to kill these rare prophets rather than listen to what God told them to say. The rare individuals underscore the power we each have to perform miracles when we partner with God. In a better group of people the power of individuals would have been less profound. Harder to "see".
Bottom line, the commonly accepted meaning of "Gods chosen people" reminds me of a famous Twilight Zone episode. Aliens landed. Humans thought they were super duper good guys who could be totally trusted. Why? Humans found an alien book. They translated the title.'To Serve Man'. Ahhh. So altruistic. Too late someone figured out it was a cookbook. Whoops.
HOW NICE, DR MENGELE WAS AHEAD OF HIS TIME AND NOW OUR JEWISH FRIENDS ARE GOING TO HELP, DID THEY NO LEARN ANYTHING
